Who Greg Wurth Is

Grammy Nominated, Gold & Platinum awarded Greg Wurth has achieved almost everything in his career and has over a decade of experience as a producer and sound engineer.

In his video he shows some audio examples of the Schwerkraftmaschine in action and shares his thoughts after using it for several months in the studio.

Greg Wurth's Verdict After Months with the Schwerkraftmaschine

Some quotes:

"The unit sounds fantastic [...] the icing on the cake is really the 11 different compression modes, it's a super versatile unit.

You can park it in a rack in the back of the room and because it's got DAW controllability you don't have to look at it, you just take a look at the plugin.

[...] it's been amazing, i used it recently on a record i mixed and every song had a different setting and it just opens up with the session - I can't ask for anything better than that!"

Eleven Modes and Plug-in Recall – What Greg Wurth Means

The two points Greg Wurth highlights are exactly the two things that set the Schwerkraftmaschine apart. First, the eleven compression modes: the control signal is generated digitally, so the same vari-mu tube compressor can behave like an opto compressor, like a VCA, like a classic vari-mu – or follow programs that exist in no other compressor. The modes are called Multi-Band Complex, Diode Pressor, Breakthrough, Stereo Transformer, Vari Tube Compressor, Vocal Leveler, Optical Compressor, Drum Smasher, Classical VariMu, Chart Analysis, DeEsser. Second, recall: every control sits on a servo motor. Load the plug-in (AU, AAX, VST) in your DAW and the motorized pots follow every move; save the song and the settings are saved with it. That is exactly what Greg Wurth describes with "every song had a different setting and it just opens up with the session". Sonically it stays analog: per channel the signal passes through three transformers and four triodes.
