The Video: Dan Cooper’s Review and "Future Classic"
Why he also called the Schwerkraftmaschine a „future classic“ can be seen in the complete video below:Motorized Pots, Recall, Eleven Modes – What's Behind It
The three points in the opening question are how the Schwerkraftmaschine is built: every control sits on a servo motor, the unit can be operated on the front panel, via the built-in web server or through the DAW plug-in (AU, AAX, VST), and when you save the song the settings are saved with it – load it again and every knob is back where it was. The eleven compression modes exist because the control signal is generated digitally while the signal path stays analog (three transformers and four triodes per channel): Multi-Band Complex, Diode Pressor, Breakthrough, Stereo Transformer, Vari Tube Compressor, Vocal Leveler, Optical Compressor, Drum Smasher, Classical VariMu, Chart Analysis, DeEsser. Add a side-chain filter (low-cut up to 300 Hz or tilt filter), and via the plug-in the unit can be split into two independent mono channels. Dan Cooper later also used the Schwerkraftmaschine for mastering – together with the EQP-1 and Creme, see "Production Expert: SKM, EQP-1 & Creme Mastering". Pro Tools Expert is now called Production Expert.
