The Tube Summing Mixer opens it into the room.
Your mix stays in the DAW. Only the summing goes analog, through tubes and transformers.
Rounded, not dulled
Tubes and transformers do the summing, and they leave a signature you can hear.
The mids gain density and a silky kind of weight, hasty peaks get caught, edges are gently rounded off. Highs and lows stay untouched.
Reviewers have described this character the same way since 2006, and the 2023 Amazona test still hears it like that.

Total recall stays
A summing mixer only earns its rack space if it costs you nothing in workflow.
So the TSM takes nothing away from the DAW: mix, automation, edits and recall stay exactly where they are. The TSM does the summing, nothing else.
That is also why the output has a stepped switch instead of a potentiometer, in -3 dB steps.
Open the session again next month, and the sum comes back exactly as it was.
One switch, on purpose
People ask why a mixer with 40 inputs has exactly one control. That is the point.
Every knob on a summing mixer is a variable, and a single variable is enough to break total recall for a project. One stepped switch means the one setting that exists always comes back.
And if you catch yourself wishing for aux sends, panorama and level knobs, you are not looking for a summing mixer, you are looking for a console. That is fine too.

2 × 20 channels, and room to grow
On the back: 2 × 16 balanced inputs on four sub-D connectors (Tascam® layout, XLR or TRS via adapter cable) plus 2 × 4 balanced TRS jacks.
Feed a mono source into the lower jack of a pair and it appears in the phantom center of the mix, no extra patching.
If 40 inputs are not enough, cascade several TSMs.
Big sessions and surround mixes stay on the table.
One honest note
The TSM sums. It does not compress and it does not equalize.
If you want processing on the summed bus, that is where a Creme comes in. And if you work entirely in the box and want nothing added to your sound, you do not need a summing mixer.

"The audio material loses corners and is significantly more compressed, especially in the midrange, than without analog summing.
Short, percussive sounds are only slightly decanted and experience a comparatively small change in sound. On the other hand, pads or already heavily compressed material experiences a significant increase in pressure, it becomes softer and more balanced in frequency.
It is also worth mentioning that the sound coloration does not affect the treble or bass range. Failures, such as a treble cut or lack of punch below 100 Hz, are therefore not to be feared."
