News from May 2015 – the revised version of the VTRC with its new front panel.

Retro look – Vintage Sound

In line with their new design aesthetic, we introduce the Vari Tube Recording Channel as the first product of the current range to feature the new retro look.

Furthermore, the inside has been revamped. By using high-quality and hand selected components, as well as a reworked circuit, an even better signal-to-noise ratio has been accomplished.

Other improvements include an EQ-section with an extended frequency range for a better editing of summed signals. Even with the new improvements, the fantastic sound of the approved tube technology, based on the award-winning original VTRC has been retained.

The Channel Strip contains a preamp with variable tube sound on the input gain.
Furthermore the VTRC includes a Pultec-Style EQ, a Vari Mu tube compressor and a vocal-optimised opto-compressor.
It does not matter if you use the channel for vocal recording, instrument recording or post-recording signal processing,
Tegeler Audio Manufaktur delivers relentless analogue sound with a handcrafted quality made in Germany.

What the Reviewers Said About the Revised Version

The new version was reviewed right after its release: Amazona.de called it a "Recording Channel Superhero" in July 2015, Sound On Sound attested "great sound quality" at a very fair price in January 2016, Delamar awarded five out of five and MusicRadar found it "fat and warm".

What the Vari Tube Recording Channel Is Today

The Vari Tube Recording Channel (VTRC) is our tube channel strip: microphone preamp, passive equalizer and compressor in one 3U unit. The preamp – with input transformer, true 48 V phantom power and a high-impedance instrument input – can be shifted in character from clean and direct to fat and vintage via the gain control. The passive Pultec-style EQ offers a low-cut (80/160 Hz), a low-mid boost, a mid cut and a high boost up to 24 kHz. The two compressors – an opto compressor with a light-sensitive resistor and a vari-tube compressor built on the vari-mu principle – can be used individually or together; the order of EQ and compressor is switchable, the EQ can be placed in the compressor's side chain, and a line input with its own transformer lets you process already recorded tracks after the fact. Two VTRCs can be linked for stereo.
