The review classifies the EQP-1 as a "sound shaper", not a surgical tool – which is exactly what it is meant to be. It also praises the components, pots and power supply revised since 2017, the power switch on the front and the build quality: "A very beautiful unit!"

What the Classic Equalizer EQP-1 Is

The Classic Equalizer EQP-1 is our passive tube equalizer modeled on classic vintage EQs: inductors and capacitors in the filter section, followed by a tube amplifier stage and transformers that make up the level and already densify the signal slightly before any filter is set. Per channel: bass boost and cut at 20, 30, 60 or 100 Hz – used together they create the typical "Pultec push" in the low end –, a high boost with adjustable bandwidth between 3 and 20 kHz, and a high-frequency attenuation at 5, 10 or 20 kHz.
