With almost 50,000 subscribers the YouTube channel MixbusTV is one of the best resources for tutorials on mixing, mastering, music production and sound design.
Host and chief engineer David has extensively tested the Creme with many sound examples from rock to EDM. When processing solo vocals, he also shows how versatile the Creme really is.
David loves compressors. He has and had many of it. But the Creme is something really special for him. All the more we are very pleased about his enthusiastic conclusion: "In short: To me this is the perfect 2-Bus processor!".

What Happens in the Video
David first walks across the front panel – bypass, side-chain low cut (full/60/120 Hz, "essential" for him on SSL-style compressors), the EQ↔compressor routing switch, detented threshold and output for exact recall, attack 0.1–30 ms, release 0.1 s to auto, ratio 1.5/2/4/10, and on top the Pultec-style EQ with 20–200 Hz and 10–24 kHz – and stresses that the Creme is not a clone: Tegeler starts from classic compressor and EQ designs and makes its own adjustments and improvements. Then come the sound examples; at the end his settings and advice on where to use it. In the unboxing video (February 2018, 4:30 min) he announces before hearing a single note that the Creme is going to be permanent in his rack – and then puts it right in front of him on the desk anyway, because it is "way too pretty" to sit anywhere else.

What the Creme Is – and Why It Sits on the Mix Bus
The Creme is our bus compressor and mastering equalizer: a passive Pultec-style EQ and an SSL-style VCA bus compressor in one 2U unit. The order is switchable – EQ before the compressor or compressor before the EQ. On the mix bus the compressor pulls the separate parts into one whole, almost inaudibly at a 1.5:1 ratio, with a rhythmic signature of its own at higher ratios and faster timing; a side-chain filter keeps frequencies below 60 or 120 Hz out of the control circuit. The EQ offers a bass boost between 20 and 200 Hz and a high boost between 10 and 24 kHz, each 0–5 dB, every value on a rotary switch – which is why every setting is exactly reproducible.
