Mondstein Records Tests the Creme on Five Songs

We did not shoot the Creme bus compressor and equalizer to the moon, but after all Thom Wettstein of Mondstein Records in Switzerland got one for testing. Nevertheless there was an impact.Here comes the complete video:
What Happens in the Video
Thom Wettstein presents the Creme as a 19-inch unit with two processors – a Pultec-style equalizer with six frequencies each for the low and high band, boost in 1 dB steps, detented threshold and output controls, side chain full/60/120 Hz, EQ↔compressor order, true bypass – and then tests it on five very different titles: an acoustic pop song, a country-rock track, a big-beat composition of his own, a ballad and an up-tempo jazz number with Hammond organ. On each title you hear the settings take shape: compressor in, attack up so the kick comes through, release adjusted, side chain at 120 or 60 Hz, then EQ before or after the compressor. On the jazz title he deliberately drives the Creme hard at a 10:1 ratio, fast attack and auto release and blends the signal in as parallel compression.

What the Creme Is – and Why It Sits on the Mix Bus
The Creme is our bus compressor and mastering equalizer: a passive Pultec-style EQ and an SSL-style VCA bus compressor in one 2U unit. The order is switchable – EQ before the compressor or compressor before the EQ. On the mix bus the compressor pulls the separate parts into one whole, almost inaudibly at a 1.5:1 ratio, with a rhythmic signature of its own at higher ratios and faster timing; a side-chain filter keeps frequencies below 60 or 120 Hz out of the control circuit. The EQ offers a bass boost between 20 and 200 Hz and a high boost between 10 and 24 kHz, each 0–5 dB, every value on a rotary switch – which is why every setting is exactly reproducible.
